The Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy, launched in 2013, is moving from the demonstration of conservation agricultural practices to scaling up their usage across Iowa. New and innovative funding opportunities for water quality improvement are becoming available in Iowa. Interest is rising to leverage current investments for increasing the pace and scale of water quality improvement. It is imperative that Iowa innovates to scale much faster and do so in a cost-efficient and effective manner.

The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) is developing, testing and deploying a strategy to transform current watershed plans and projects into hubs of diffusion, expanding innovation and investment to surrounding watersheds. This work is being coordinated with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS).

One element of scaling-up strategy is an evaluation of watershed projects. The watershed project assessment process is detailed on the Methodology page and findings are summarized on the Watershed Status page.
